Try PhotoCraft in Your Browser
The browser editor runs the official PhotoCraft web build on your own device. This page explains how it handles files, what it needs and how to open it.
The browser editor is ready
The editor below runs PhotoCraft 0.7.0, checked on 2026-10-13. It opens in this tab; the browser back button returns you here.
The editor is built for a desktop browser. On a phone, this page stays readable and the official desktop downloads are the reliable way to run PhotoCraft.
How files are handled
Files are opened through the browser file picker or drag and drop. Editing uses the browser, and saving or exporting downloads a file to your device. This site has no image-upload service or cloud document storage.
In the local candidate check of PhotoCraft 0.7.0 on 2026-10-13, Chrome and WebKit opened, edited and saved a self-made sample. That check was run before Google Analytics was added to the main site. Requests were limited to the main site and editor addresses, with no requests carrying a body. No file upload was observed in that journey. Read the local data-check record.
The production deployment has not been verified. This observation covers one sample and one pinned build, not every file, feature, browser extension or future version.
Editor preferences stay in your browser's local storage. There is no automatic saving of your work.

What the editor needs
- A current desktop browser. The canvas prefers WebGPU where your browser offers it and falls back to WebGL2 automatically; both need a secure (https or local) connection, which the editor provides.
- About 25 MB of application download on first visit, or roughly 10 MB once compression is applied, so the first load takes a moment on a slow connection.
- A desktop-sized window. The editing surface is not designed for phones, and this site does not claim it is.
- Support for completing canvas edits with only a keyboard or a screen reader has not been verified. You can still read this site's FAQ, check upstream issues or explore official desktop downloads. Desktop accessibility has not been verified either.
Editing step by step
- Open a file with the Open button, Ctrl/Cmd+O, or by dragging a PNG, JPEG or PSD onto the canvas.
- Edit on the canvas with the tools in the side panels.
- Save your document with Ctrl/Cmd+S. It downloads as a layered PSD through your browser.
- Export As (Shift+Cmd+E, or Ctrl+Shift+E elsewhere) opens the export dialog for image formats, scale and quality. If the Export button does not start a download, use Ctrl/Cmd+S instead: it saves the same document as a layered PSD.
- Reopen the saved PSD like any file. Layers you kept stay editable.
Limits and recovery
- There is no autosave. Refreshing or closing the editor loses unsaved work, so save often. The browser warns before you leave an editor tab with unsaved changes.
- A very large document can exhaust the browser tab's memory. If the tab crashes, reopen the editor and open your last saved PSD: the file you saved is your recovery, which is one more reason to save often and keep your original.
- If the application is slow to appear, the page shows its own message with a Reload link after about twenty seconds instead of loading forever.
- A file the editor cannot open is refused without breaking the application; the next supported file still opens.
- PhotoCraft is an early-stage project. Layered PSD and PSB support depends on the features your document uses, so test a copy and keep the original. You can check reported upstream issues before important work.
